EMB-SIK-DA - Double air high speed burner

EMB-SIK-DA series are high velocity, free flame nozzle mix burners with two spearated air inlets providing the possibility, to obtain any wished level of excess airr. The air stream as well as the particular shape of the silicon carbide flame tube create a stiff flame allowing high heat penetration in the combustion chamber. Maximum capacities are obtained with 50 mbar of air pressure.


Description

The EMB‑SIK‑DA series by ESA‑Pyronics consists of double air high‑speed gas burners designed for direct heating processes in industrial furnaces. Their defining feature is the silicon carbide (SiC) flame tube, which generates a compact, high‑velocity flame—between 60 and 120 m/s depending on the model. This tight flame ensures deep heat penetration and uniform temperature distribution within the combustion chamber. Burners can operate with methane, LPG, or other special gaseous fuels and are suitable for a wide temperature range, reaching up to 1300°C.

Typical applications include fibre‑lined furnaces, tunnel and car-bottom furnaces, heat‑treatment units, stretching furnaces, hot air generators, and industrial dryers. Thanks to controlled secondary air inlets, the burners can be optimized for low‑temperature processes requiring uniformity. Their capacity ranges from 80 to 300 kW, with excess air capability up to 400% (2000% with secondary air).

Ignition and flame detection occur via separate electrodes, although UV-scan detection can be used for special cases. Proper installation requires safe spacing, correct sealing with ceramic fibre, dedicated high‑tension cabling, and grounding of metallic elements. Ignition must always occur at minimum power before modulation. Vertical upward mounting is discouraged due to risks of failed ignition.

Start‑up and setting procedures must be performed by qualified personnel. These include verifying air and gas pressures, adjusting safety systems, modulating combustion parameters, checking flame stability, and ensuring correct differential pressures. LPG versions include a dedicated premix air line requiring specific adjustment.

Routine annual maintenance includes inspection or replacement of electrodes, combustion head, flame tube, gaskets, and repetition of start‑up calibration procedures. Extraordinary maintenance guides operators in diagnosing lockouts related to illegal flame detection, ignition failures, or unstable flame signals.

Finally, the document provides extensive dimensional drawings for all burner versions, ordering codes, and material specifications, enabling correct selection and integration into industrial combustion plants.
