ESW - Flat flame burners
The ESW are flat flame “nozzle mix” burners: the high speed combustion air flow produces a vortex inside the refractory block where the gas mixes producing high combustion. The parabolic shape of the block and the centrifugal force generated by the rotary movement of the air spread the flame against the wall of the cone and against that of the surrounding furnace, transferring the heat only radially to the refractory block.
Description
The ESW series is a family of flat flame, nozzle‑mix industrial burners designed for high‑turbulence, radial heat‑transfer applications. Combustion air enters at high velocity, creating a vortex in the refractory block where gas mixes and forms a flat, radiant flame ideal for furnaces where axial flame projection must be avoided.
Applications for flat flame burners include annealing, aluminum and zinc melting, holding furnaces, pit and bell furnaces, and billet heating.
Burners range from 90 to 1400 kW, support preheated air up to 450°C, operate at 70 mbar air and 80 mbar gas pressure, and permit a turndown ratio of 1:8. Ignition is via electrode and UV detection, with recommended flame‑control systems below 750°C. Detailed tables include flame dimensions, capacities vs. preheated air, and NOx emission trends (lower NOx with hotter preheated air).
The manual provides installation rules—correct block positioning, flexible connections, and refractory protection—as well as startup and adjustment procedures covering pressure checks, safety devices, ignition tuning, and combustion balancing. Maintenance guidelines include periodic inspection of refractory blocks, electrodes, photocells, and gaskets, plus troubleshooting for lockouts (illegal flame, failed ignition, signal loss).
