Heat Treatments
Metallurgy and combustion
Homogeneity and efficiency whatever the fuel...
High and medium temperature heat treatments are essential processes in the metallurgical industry, allowing the production of materials with specific physical and chemical properties. Among the most common:
- Forging, which modifies the shape and improves the strength of the metal through plastic deformation.
- Annealing, a general term for various processes, prepares the metal for further processing by ensuring uniform temperature distribution and reducing internal stresses.
- Quenching, which increases the hardness and strength of the metal through rapid cooling, often followed by tempering to improve toughness.
For these processes, particularly between 400 °C and 1250 °C, ESA offers several type of burners and technology. Models include high- or medium-velocity burners with open flame, flat flame, or radiant tube configurations, whose efficiency is based on heat recovery systems such as recuperators and regenerators, either external or integrated into the burner.
A common distinguishing feature of all models is their ability to precisely follow process “recipes” and usage cycles (including pulse firing or regenerative cycles), ensuring uniformity and maintaining stability.
Diluted combustion technologies and compatibility with hydrogen and blends also enable NOx and CO2 emission minimization.

Long flame regenerative burners low NOx for forging furnaces
"Rege - NxT" are lateral long-flame burners up to 4 Mw that use air preheated by regenerative beds using alumina balls. Available for traditional (NG, LPG) or green fuels (H2, blends, process gases). Flameless and staged combustion insure low NOx levels also using high-temp- air.

Flat flame regenerative burners for forging furnaces
Our "Rege SW - Nxt" burners represents certianly the most efficient technology in the field of combustion, achieving incredible performance in terms of consumption—up to 40% less compared to long-flame regenerative systems. Decarbonization starts here!

High velocity self-regenerative burners
Patent-Pending
High-velocity, self-regenerative Low NOx burners: "Selfrege - NxT" utilize a regeneration scheme with regenerative cartridges and a central self-recuperative unit to further increase efficiency, even during operation at lower temperatures.

Self recuperative burners for radiant tubes
The "Reko RT Nxt" are burners for "single ended", "P" or "double P" radiant tubes, used in several processes where furnace atmosphere must not blend with flue gases.

"Free flame" low NOx selfrecuperative burners
The "REKO-FF-Nxt" are ESA patended technology for high efficiency and low emissions used in a wide range of applications . A true best seller using cast iron body and flame tube in SIC

"Flat flame" low NOx selfrecuperative burners
The "REKO-SW-Nxt" are selfrecuperative burners low nox that can be used also on the roof of the furnace.

High velocity low NOx recuperative burners
"EMB Nxt" are burners using preheated air from a central recuperator. The staged combustion combines so high efficiency with low Nox emissions, that can become ULTRA Low Nox with flameless option.

Double air inlet high velocity burners
The "EMB 2A" is a high-velocity SIC burner that, thanks to its dual separate air inlets, can operate under extreme excess-air conditions while still maintaining stoichiometric balance.

High homogeneity with the "pulse firing" by ESA!
ESA Pulse is our simple, cost-effective communication board for pulse firing—no PLC required!
It converts heat demand into MIN/MAX (or OFF/MAX) burner sequences, with the entire process easily visualized and managed via a dedicated touchscreen panel.
