RE - Red-eye gas burner

Red-eye gas burners are nozzle-mixing units with a high velocity, spinning, air flow. The swirling air stream produces an anticlockwise vortex inside the refractory block. Gas enters the vortex, mixing rapidly, producing intense combustion. The shape of the burner block port works with the vortex to create a ball-shaped flame to the furnace wall at firing rates and mixtures. Maximum furnace temperatures are obtained at high-fire with stoichiometric air and gas flows. Excess air operation allows for quite cold flame temperatures without changing the volumes of the fuel gas

The RE Series red-eye or parabolic flame gas burner are high‑performance industrial combustion devices designed to deliver efficiency, reliability and adaptability across a wide range of heating applications. Constructed using premium materials such as G25 cast iron for the mixer body and plate, and AISI304 stainless steel for the gas tube, these burners are engineered for durability and consistent operation even under harsh thermal conditions. Their standard refractory block withstands temperatures up to 1,750°C, ensuring robust performance in demanding environments.

The RE burners employ advanced nozzle‑mix technology, where combustion air is injected at high velocity, generating a counter‑clockwise vortex inside the refractory block. This promotes optimal mixing with the fuel gas and results in highly efficient combustion, producing the characteristic compact “ball‑shaped” flame. They support various fuel gases, including natural gas, LPG and propane, and can operate with preheated air up to 450°C.

Key advantages include excellent flame stability across different air‑to‑fuel ratios and low NOx emissions. The burners are equipped with threaded mounting points for accessories such as pilot burners, UV flame detectors, ignition electrodes and inspection ports. Separate gas and air inlets, combined with on‑nozzle mixing, prevent flashback and enable precise regulation.

Typical applications include strip annealing, forging furnaces, frit‑melting kilns, billet‑heating furnaces, aluminum melting and holding furnaces, and reverberatory melting basins. Installation is versatile, allowing any mounting orientation; air and gas inlets can rotate by 90°, and dedicated support flanges permit both wall and roof installation. The RE Series covers firing capacities from 16 to 1,500 kW, with flame lengths dependent on model size and air pressure.
