EMB - Free flame metallic medium velocity burners
The EMB are metallic gas burners for direct heating. These burners allow excess air, stoichiometric and excess gas adjustments. Depending on the size and conditions of use, these can be used for the combustion of natural gas and LPG (in the standard version) and other types of gaseous fuels with different calorific values (special versions on request).
Description
The EMB burner series (E3004 rev.09) by ESA-Pyronics consists of metallic medium velocity gas burners designed for direct heating applications across a wide range of industrial thermal processes. These burners operate with natural gas or LPG in their standard configuration, and can be adapted for other gaseous fuels on request. They support excess air, stoichiometric, and excess gas combustion, providing operational flexibility according to process requirements. The capacity range spans from 20 to 2,500 kW, with a maximum working temperature of 1,000°C for standard metallic versions. While a for block-holder (BH) versions, which include a refractory block for high‑temperature applications it is possible to reach 1,300°C.
Constructed using robust materials—such as G25 cast iron mixer bodies and AISI304/AISI310 stainless steel components—the EMB metallic medium velocity burners feature high flame speeds (50–60 m/s), low CO emissions (<10 ppm @ 3% O₂), and the ability to function with preheated air up to 550°C. Ignition is performed via high‑tension electrodes, with detection by electrode or UV scanner depending on the model.
Typical applications include ceramic and fibre furnaces, tunnel or car-bottom kilns, dryers, stretching furnaces, and textile machines. The burners are of the nozzle-mix type, ensuring safe mixing of air and fuel only at the combustion head, thus preventing flashback.
Maintenance guidelines include annual checks for electrodes, combustion heads, gaskets, and calibration of air/gas settings. Extraordinary maintenance covers issues related to failed ignition, illegal flame detection, and flame signal loss.
