CR - Elbows with peepsights for burners

The elbows equipped with peep-sight are  used to allow for easy inspection of the flame inside the refractory block

Description

The CR product series by ESA‑Pyronics consists of burner elbows fittings equipped with integrated peepsights, designed to be mounted on ESA burners to allow direct visual inspection of the flame inside the refractory block. Their purpose is to give operators an immediate, reliable way to check flame presence and quality during burner operation, without dismantling components or interrupting the heating process. These elbows are available in different size families—8/12/16 CR and 24/32/48 CR—selected according to the burner’s connection dimensions.

All CR burner elbows with peepsights share common performance specifications: a maximum operating temperature of 120 °C and a maximum working pressure of 200 mbar. They feature a compact structure installed coaxially with the burner, ensuring stable installation and optimal flame visibility. Material composition varies slightly depending on the size category: smaller models (8, 12, 16 CR) use steel for the elbow body and nipples, brass for the peepsight body, Pyrex for the glass, and a cast‑iron connection flange. Larger models (24, 32, 48 CR) use cast iron for the elbow body, with similar brass and Pyrex assemblies for the peepsight. All models use AFM34 gaskets, and supply includes one gasket for burner connection, with an optional second gasket for the gas line.

The CR elbows are non‑repairable components; in case of damage, they must be replaced entirely. Basic maintenance includes checking gasket and peepsight integrity, ensuring bolts remain properly tightened, and replacing gaskets whenever the elbow is removed. Visual inspection of the peephole glass is recommended every six months. Installation requires positioning the elbow precisely on the burner axis and tightening bolts in a crosswise pattern to ensure sealing and alignment.

These elbows represent a simple but essential accessory for many combustion systems, improving safety, inspection capability, and operational reliability by enabling fast flame visualization in both small and large ESA burner configurations.
