VML - Slow opening and rapid closing solenoid valves

The VML type solenoid valve is a normally closed single-stage electromagnetic valve with slow opening and rapid closing, in accordance with the UNI EN 161 standard

Description

The VML series is a family of single‑stage, slow opening and rapid closing solenoid valves designed for precise gas and air interception in industrial combustion systems. These valves are normally closed, meaning the internal spring keeps the shutter sealed when the coil is not powered, ensuring intrinsic safety. When energized, the VML valve opens gradually, controlled through an internal hydraulic damping system, providing stable ignition and smooth flow ramp‑up. Closing occurs in less than one second, making the valve suitable for emergency shutoff and rapid operational transitions.

VML valves work at 360 mbar maximum operating pressure and are suited for fluid temperatures below 40°C, with an adjustable flow range from 0 to 100%. The opening time can be tuned between 4 and 25 seconds, while the fast‑opening portion can also be adjusted to meet burner requirements. Operating temperatures range from –15°C to +60°C, and protection class IP54 ensures resistance to dust and standard industrial environments. The incorporated dust filter protects internal components from contamination.

The valves are available in threaded sizes from 3/8″ to 2″ (Rp) and flanged sizes DN65 and DN80, covering applications from compact burners to medium‑large combustion systems. Materials include aluminum, copper, and steel for the valve body, and PTFE, NBR, and FPM for seals, ensuring durability and chemical compatibility. The coil can be oriented 360°, providing mounting flexibility except in the downward position. Electrical supply options include 110/230 V AC as standard, with optional 24 VAC/DC, with voltage tolerance from –15% to +10%.

VML valves are suitable for gas and air interception, including special fuels such as biogas and coke‑oven gas (COG). Their ability to combine progressive opening with rapid closing makes them ideal for burners, furnaces, and controlled gas delivery systems requiring stable start‑up and immediate shutdown.
