POP-U-S - Orifice flow meters with measuring ring chambers

The POP-US series calibrated flanges are instruments for measuring fluid flow in pipes in accordance with the UNI EN5167-2 standard tive. They are available in different materials and sizes according to the type of fluid and flow rate to be measured

Description

The POP-U-S calibrated orifice flow meters are industrial instruments designed to measure fluid flow rates in pipelines in accordance with EN 5167‑2 standards. They consist of a primary measuring element—a calibrated diaphragm inserted between two ring chambers—and a secondary element typically made up of a differential pressure gauge (MAG series) or a PT‑II electronic pressure transmitter. These devices enable accurate, stable, and repeatable flow measurement for air, preheated air, inert fluids, gas fuels of classes 1/2/3, and oxygen. Custom versions are available for special gases.

The POP‑U‑S flanges are welded directly into piping from DN20 to DN450. Impulse lines for upstream and downstream pressure measurement are integrated within the flanges, ensuring easy installation and precise detection of differential pressure. When connected to appropriate pressure transmitters or gauges, they provide reliable flow indication for combustion systems and industrial processes. Typical applications include flow measurement, ratio control with pressure transmitters, flow direction verification with pressure switches, and control functions for combustion chamber pre‑purge and burner ignition as specified by EN 746‑2.

The flanges are available in various materials to suit their operating fluido: P245GH or AISI 304 for flanges, galvanized steels or AISI 304 for ring chambers, and AISI 304 for the diaphragm disc. Maximum working conditions include temperatures up to 500°C and pressures up to 6 bar. Gaskets (AFM‑34 or X‑PLUS) ensure sealing integrity. For oxygen‑based systems, 8 mm copper impulse lines are mandatory.

Installation guidelines emphasize correct alignment, respecting upstream/downstream straight lengths per ISO 5167‑2, proper gasket orientation, and progressive tightening of bolts. Maintenance is minimal, requiring annual checks on gasket and impulse line integrity, along with extraordinary maintenance procedures such as gasket replacement or bolt tightening when the system is offline. The POP‑U‑S series complies with UNI EN 746‑2:2010, Machinery Directive 2006/42/CE, and ISO 9001.
