POP-S - Orifice flow meters – calibrated flanges

The calibrated flanges for flow measurements of the POP-S series are devices suitable for carrying out measurements of air or gas flow rates. The principle of the measuring method is based on the installation of a calibrated orifice inside the pipeline.


Description

POP-S calibrated flanges are devices for measuring air and gas flow rates in combustion systems. They operate by creating a pressure drop across a calibrated orifice installed in the pipeline; by measuring this differential and using conversion tables, the instantaneous flow can be determined.
Ideal for controlling air/gas ratio in burners, they simplify adjustment and improve system efficiency. POP-S calibrated flanges are available in threaded (DN10–DN50) and flanged (DN65–DN150) versions, made of G25 cast iron and Fe360, or AISI304/AISI316 for high-temperature applications. Max operating pressure: 400 mbar; temperature: -20 ÷ +400°C. Measurement error: ±5%.
Sizing requires project data such as gas composition, pressure, temperature, flow rate, and desired Δp. The bulletin provides charts and correction coefficients for pressure and temperature, plus formulas to convert different gases to air-equivalent flow.
Installation: maintain straight pipe sections of at least 100 mm upstream and downstream, avoid impurities, use proper gaskets and cross-tightening. Flanges can be mounted horizontally or vertically. Maintenance: annual seal checks, bolt tightening, and impulse port verification every 6 months.
POP-S flanges are suitable for indicative flow measurements, not for precise electronic ratio control. They comply with UNI EN 746-2, Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC, ISO 9001, and EAC certification for the Eurasian market.
