POP-WAC - Simple measuring discs

The POP-WAC series discs are simple measuring orifices according to the UNI EN5167-2 standard

Description

The POP‑WAC series consists of simple measuring orifice discs designed according to UNI EN 5167‑2 for fluid flow measurement in circular pipelines. These devices create a differential pressure between the upstream and downstream sides of a calibrated orifice, enabling accurate flow determination when paired with a secondary measuring instrument such as a differential pressure gauge or a pressure transmitter

POP‑WAC discs are suitable for various industrial applications including flow measurement, air‑gas ratio control in combustion systems, flow direction monitoring when coupled with pressure switches, and compliance with EN 746‑2 requirements for combustion chamber pre‑purge and burner ignition at minimum power. They can be manufactured in multiple materials—AISI 304 or OT58 for the disc, Fe360 or AISI 304 for the UNI PN16 flanges—and withstand up to 5 bar and 500°C. Gaskets are supplied in AFM‑34 or X‑PLUS materials to match the fluid type. The impulse line socket kit is optional and includes pressure taps and fittings, allowing connection to transmitters for differential pressure readings

Accurate sizing of a POP‑WAC orifice requires data such as fluid type, nominal flow rate, differential pressure, operating pressure and temperature, and pipe dimensions (nominal and internal diameter). Once installed, the device ensures reliable flow indication as long as minimum straight‑pipe lengths upstream and downstream are respected, according to ISO‑based tables defining values as a function of diameter ratio β. The disc must be oriented correctly with the “+” mark upstream and the 45° chamfer facing downstream.

POP‑WAC orifices are supplied without flanges, gaskets or impulse lines unless requested. Installation includes welding flanges to the pipe, positioning the disc, and adding two G3/8” nozzles for impulse connections. Maintenance is minimal, requiring annual visual checks of gasket integrity and impulse socket tightness, plus bolt retightening and gasket replacement when necessary. The product conforms to ISO 13577 (UNI EN 746‑2:2010), EN 5167‑2, and ISO 9001
