ESA and Universitè Libre de Bruxelles Together

At the 40th International Combustion Symposium in Milan, we learned that the Université libre de Bruxelles (ULB) was looking for a facility in Wallonia to install a new large-scale combustion test oven as part of its research on green gas technologies.
In response, ESA—through its Belgian branch, ESA Belgium (formerly “PYRONICS International”), which has been based in Charleroi for over 30 years— stepped up and offered to rent space within its production site—an appreciated gesture that now allows ULB to move forward with its experimental program.
This proximity between ULB’s research activities and ESA’s industrial environment opens up opportunities for productive collaboration, based on complementary skills and shared interests. With ULB’s cutting-edge scientific expertise—think digital twins, CFD modeling, and advanced flue gas analysis—and ESA’s strong industrial know-how, both partners are perfectly positioned to explore new synergies.
