AR-REG-II - Air/gas ratio control valve

The AR-REG-II series balanced modulators are EN-88 certified regulators reducing the pressure of a fluid to the value of a loading pressure, guaranteeing a constant ratio between fuel and oxidizing agent and consequently greater combustion efficiency, with all the advantages of consumption. In particular, ARs work in the opposite way to normal regulators as they modulate the air according to the gas pressure. This product has been as a matter of facts thought for ceramic tunnell burners with fixed air, which the control helps on the opposite to modulate.

Description

The AR‑REG‑II air/gas ratio regulator, produced by ESA-Pyronics is a en-88 certified balanced modulator that reduces air pressure while maintaining a constant ratio between combustion air and fuel gas, improving efficiency and reducing consumption. Unlike traditional ratio regulators, the AR‑REG‑II is installed on the air line and modulated through a pressure signal coming from the gas line.
The regulator uses a double-diaphragm system: a balancing diaphragm between the valve body and upper chamber, and a main diaphragm controlling valve movement based on upstream and downstream pressure. This ensures accurate regulation even with inlet pressure fluctuations.
Key technical specifications include: working pressure up to 200 mbar, operating temperature –10 °C to +70 °C, max air temperature 200 °C, 10:1 flow ratio, gas signal 0.4–70 mbar, and materials compliant with EN standards.
Main applications include combustion system revamping of tunnel furnaces & kilns with fixed air and modulated gas, where AR maintain stoichiometric air/gas ratio during modulation, and optimizing energy efficiency, with potential savings up to 10%. The document provides installation examples on industrial burners and a functional flow diagram.
Installation guidelines specify vertical mounting when possible, correct flow direction, use of metal impulse lines, and presence of a fine gas filter upstream. Field repairs are not allowed; calibration and servicing must be performed exclusively by ESA-Pyronics technicians.
